April 24, 2005Games I always love to check out the latest PC games. Lately I've been meaning to finish the single-player version of half-life 2 and Counter-Strike seems very cool. My friend Chris suggests I should check out the World of Warcraft and Hillel says to look at Battle Middle-Earth.

April 20, 2005Music Lots of music stuff. Went to see "The Wonder Stuff" last night and they were very good although it was a bit disappointing that the crowd was so small and that they didn't have a fiddle player so they had to skip most of the stuff from "Never Loved Elvis". They have a new album out that I've been meaning to check out. The Wonder Stuff- Escape from Rubbish Island A lot of other bands have new stuff out now or soon too- Gorillaz - Phase One - Celebrity Take Down DVD Gorillaz - Demon Days new Gorillaz album! The new Beck album Guero looks very cool- I head "E-Pro" on the radio and it sounds fun.
April 19, 2005Wine I read an interesting piece in the Seattle PI that mentions that the new Riedel "O" glasses are a giant hit accounting for something like 25% of Riedel sales in just two years. When I saw these at first I wasn't so impressed but I have a few and to be honest they are great and I'm going to get more to have around for parties.

April 18, 2005Music More music news- I just heard on the radio that the Wonder Stuff are touring and are playing Seattle on Tuesday. I remember these guys as one of my first great live "club" experiences- probably the first place I ever experienced a pit. They also have a new album coming out that I have to check out- The Wonder Stuff- Escape From Rubbish Island Also I noticed a few albums by the Charlatans UK that I haven't seen before- Charlatans UK- Songs from the Other Side This is a b-sides colleciton. The Charlatans UK- Up At the Lake Their latest album which is still import-only.
April 17, 2005Music Just two weeks to the Coachella festival! I can't wait, although I think I should start applying the sun-screen right now. At a party someone requested some Devo and I realized with embarrisment that I didn't have any. Music is really important to me and I'll buy just about anything that costs less than $10 (although sometimes I'll let myself be tricked into considering $10.98 in that category). I wound up ordering two Devo- Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! Right now I'm listening to the new Chemical Brothers- Push the Button. Can't wait to see these guys at Coachella.
April 6, 2005Home Networking- VOIP I really need to scope out the situation with VOIP. I hate my home phone service and am planning on getting rid of it as soon as I can make sure my DSL will run fine "naked". Right now I mostly just use cell-phones but I'm interested in checking out the VOIP options. From what I've heard there are two real choices- Skype and Vonage. Vonage seems more professional and focused on providing solutions that normal people can use. Skype has the advantage that its totally free if you don't make calls that connect into POTS. In the end I'm likely to decide based on the availability of cool devices that hook into my network.
April 5, 2005Travel- The Grand Canyon On the way back from Scottsdale we stopped at the Grand Canyon and then Vegas. I took some panoramic photos at the Grand Canyon- here is one to check out. If you want to see a satellite view of this location, check it out on Google Maps. Very cool!
